Default Old Dagger

I was spraying the fence with weed killer & found this dagger. My family has lived here for a long time & I belive one of my relitives took it out of the house & lost it. I don't know how old it is but it isn't new. Any way I thought it's a cool find eye balling it & all. Any one have an idea how old it is?

That sure looks a lot like a fairbairn sykes to me, used by british commandos during WW2. Too bad its too corroded to get the maker's mark, could also be a reproduction.

The handle is different than the FS, as is the guard. Looks older than 1900 to me. Could be an old boot knife. I would have someone local look at it. http://www.purecowboy.us/Antique%20Knives.htm Scroll down

That is indeed a sweet eyeball find - wow! Thought it looked like a bayonet at first, but it doesn't look like it would mount. Let us know what you find out about it!

Default NOT Sykes-Fairbairn

Your dagger is cool, I am thinking pre-Civil War. But it is definitely NOT a Sykes-Fairbair. I collect military knives and bayonets, and it is way different.
