Thats correct. If it was the machines lifetime we'd all have imaculate Tesoros
with lots of new free parts..and Tesoro would fold.

I'd just send it in and let them do the fixing......any costs are applied to your kid's allowances......

Hey, Were my kids at your house!! I've actually invisioned my kids doing something like that. I never leave my machine anywhere near them for that reason. Hope you get it fixed. Good luck.

This is where you went wrong. That statement just triggers something in their brain. Your detector was doomed the second that came out of your mouth.

Default Repair for damaged coil cord.

As I noticed this is a older post , I am sure my advice is late in fixing your problem but I would think a electronic repair shop in your area could fix it for you.

Use the now broken detector to "BEAT" the lesson into them.
That's what my dad would have done!

You mean not only did the cable get ripped from the detector but it is lost as well? I was hoping it only got ripped from the control box end, that would be fixable at home. But fixing it on the coil end seems impossible.
Your kids must be strong. The cable end at the coil is very strong and molded right into the top of the coil.

You shoulda asked them about which coil they have would replace it. The 5.75 umax coil fits my old Royal Sabre. Also, see if there's a dealer in your area. My area has a dealer who stocks new and used coils. Man, what did they pull it out with? My old 8" Royal Sabre coil had a plastic retainer that was epoxied in the top and I like to have never got it out.

It would be time for a game of hide and seek. Fill the kid's pocket with clad pennies and bury him. Come back a week later and have fun hunting for your lost change!

What to do?
First...beat their A$$. Then, make them mow lawns and/or babysit until they have earned enough to buy you a new detector.

If a kid did that to my detector the next detectorist would be finding a five year old 12" down and need a major digger to get the little B out

Or the little B would need a surgeon to get the remains of my detector out of his a$$
