Default Any ideas?

So I got this today and I don't really know what it is...I'm thinking watch back maybe? Other thing I'm wondering is it silver? Sounded great and I've seen where some silver is marked 0.935 so I'm guessing yes, but really not sure. Any help is always appreciated.

Definitely silver. Looks like a watch back to me.

the lion is most likely a makers mark.

Austria, Germany and Switzerland all have .935 marks. It's a case for a pocket watch. from what I've found on a serial number database website. here's what I found:

http://www.nawcc-info.org/walthamdb/LookupSN.asp

dating the serial number:
http://www.oldwatch.com/walthamdate.html

which sounds plausible. Guy on a pocketwatch forum has a pocketwatch that starts with 200xxxx serial number and it has the lion and is a waltham made in 1916... the RG would stand for Riverside Grade. A higher end grading.
nice case. Waltham model 1857 made in 1865-1866 Riverside Grade. the lion mark probably signifies a swiss movement.

Wow those are some cool websites there, I had no idea there was anything like that out there. I did find a site that leads me to believe the mark is actually a bear and is Swiss in origin. http://www.925-1000.com/foreign_marks.html Wish I'd of found the whole watch instead of just the back but I'll take it Thanks for the help.

np! i love that website. it's one of my go-to websites for silver marks. If you look at the German marks, you'll see on the right hand side on one of the pages the same marking your watch case has. I love trying to ID stuff like this. it's fun to research history.
