Default Thanks guys!!!

Thanks guys for introducing me to the world of CRH. I've never thought of during any such thing until I joined here. Went to the bank today and got all the half dollar rolls they had which was only 14 rolls. I found 33 40% ers out of the 14 rolls. I think I'm, hooked now.

That's a great score! Expect more like 1 on average from that few rolls. You obviously got someones rolls who turned in granddad's coins! LOL

From what I've read here I thought I did pretty good. I've got a 8 , going on 25, daughter that is hooked on detecting and finding "treasure". When I was explaining to her what I was doing she was tickled to death over our finds. If I could figure figure out how to post pics with this phone I would. Anyways, ill be hitting my wifes bank tomorrow.

Send some of that silver up the Mississippi my way! Nothing better than a lil' beginners luck! Good luck with your treasure hunting buddy!

Thanks ace. I also got numerous quarter and dime rolls with only 1 silver dime to show for it. The halves were def an adrenaline rush though.

Is it common for the halves to produce more than dimes and quarters? I'm sure it is over ths nickels bc they only had 3 years with 35% silver right?

Mike,

Halves seem to be the best of the bunch however, dimes can be pretty productive as well. Nickels are fun because of not just finding the War nickels but also buffs, the occasional V nickel and I've even heard of someone on here getting a shield nickel once. IMO, quarters are a waste of time. Never found a single one but will still buy the occasional CWR's when the bank has them.

Good luck!

KT hunted 19 rolls of dimes once and found one silver, a 64, then He hunted a box of dimes and got one silver....a 47! But then hunted 45 rolls and came up with zip! The dates are so small on dimes, I simply edge hunted them, saving my eyes! lol Plus the rolls are so much harder to get into IMO!

KT has contemplated running some nickels just to see how it goes. But He definitely continues on with the halves.

Great beginning. You hit the motherload with a customer turn in. My bank has never had a customer turn in of rolled halves. Plus, from reading other posts, a high percentage of tellers know the "silver game" and play for themselves. So, you got lucky there, also.

You found more silver in those rolls than I have after spending $12,500 on boxed halves. My year to date stats are 23 silver halves out of 25 boxes. But, I do enjoy the hunt. I have four more boxes coming in this week. Who knows, maybe my motherload has arrived? I also tried dimes but dumped them. Out of 7,500 dimes I found exactly one silver dime. And as KT mentioned, those dumb things are so hard on the eyes to look at the years and edge hunting is not as easy as halves.

Yes, they were def customer turn ins. The teller marked out the customer account number with a sharpie on each roll. Sounds like I should lower my expectations on future rolls. Oh well, at least I started with a bang.

Nah, keep those expectations high!!!!! Who knows, maybe your the only hunter in your area. I think the game is much harder to play in large cities like New York, Philly, Atlanta, etc. Too many players, not enough coin.

There is one forum member who has received permission to buy the bags of halves from the coin machine sorter in the bank. What a sweet deal!!! He will always find a a private stash when it is dumped at the bank. Most of us have to order boxes from the bank, which moves us into coin service companies like Brinks and Garda, where the silver coins are more diluted, in my opinion.
