Well I did 1 box of Nickels last week, and 1 box again this week. While I usually do halves, Nickels are a good break from halves and I search for more varities with them.
Last week's box yielded only 1 War Nickel but I found a 1939-D, which is a key date, 2nd lowest mint. Then this week, I found a 39-S & 51-S in the same exact roll. These 2 I needed for my Whitman folder and are pretty key dates as well. The very next roll....out pops another 39-D. LOL. I know of another poster on another forum who has done over 200 boxes of Nickels and is still searching for a 39-D, and somehow I managed to come across 2 39-D's in under 20 boxes hunted. Strange how it all works out sometimes. My last 7 Nickels I need for my folder are... 38-S 43-D (silver) 44-D (silver) 45-D (silver) 45-S (silver) 48-S 50-D So far everything else I've found in circulation from 1938-1961. Well now I'm down to only the elusive 1950-D. I made some trades for the others I needed, and found a few as well. On another note I've kind of stopped searching Nickels altogether, as it just simply takes too much of my time. So I'm no longer ordering Nickels. Might get a box every now and then, but all the date reading takes way too long for me, although I do like finding old Nickels. I'll stick to Halves and occasionally Dimes for now. Might try cents again, flipping to reverse checking for Wheats only. So I might try and pick up the 1950-D tomorrow at a flea market. HH all __________________ |

If you do find a 50-D at a flea market, let me know what you pay for it. When KT was a young Kinglet back in the 60s He bought one BU for $10.00 at the coin shop and His dad nearly went berserk that He spent that much money for a nickel...LOL KT's dad was a former bank teller and handled millions of $$$ during his life time, but rarely collected a coin! Now ain't that the PITS!
![]() KT is just curious as to what the going price for a 50-D is now.
