Default First gold! Big honking man's bracelet!!

I was metal detecting in a park that I've MD'd about 20 times before, but I was in a spot that I hadn't done yet, mostly digging very rough encrusted clad, when all of sudden I dug a signal that I thought was going to be another penny, but turned out to be this huge honking man's 14K bracelet! Woohoo! It's my first gold and it's huge!! Can't wait to take it to the jeweler's today to find out it's worth I will make another post when I find out it's value. Anyway, I just had to share the news of my good fortune. I love this hobby!!Name: 1st gold chain 4-2012.jpg

Yea, real gold will usually come up much cleaner out of the ground...just about like new.

If it really is gold and not what is called "flea market gold", a big congratz!
If it is fake...still a very cool find.

Flea Market gold -- never heard of it called that.
I had a ring like that, luckily I bought it for $2.00 a thrift store.

You'll know it when you pull gold out of the dirt, it looks as good as the day it went in.

You're on the right track though!!

A real 14kt chain would probably give you a foil signal. No need to take it into a jeweler. Like some of the others have stated, your pic says it all. I'm sure you were excited and your heart was skipping beats though...don't you just love this hobby?

Unfortunately, you guys were right. The jeweler said it was gold clad. It's marked 14K, so I just assumed. Very disappointing. So, I guess I should say, it's my first gold clad jewelry. I still love this hobby

YAY!!! I do too and I tell ya that 20 second flat out rush when you see gold color in the dirt is incredible!

When it turns out to be real, and it will, the second rush is just as awesome.

Sorry about the disappointment, but at least you're on the right track! Still searching for my first full on gold item.
