Some of us carry our scale with us when we go hunting but no computer to use the treasure calculator. Sounds like you may have to wait until you get home to see what your treasure is worth...right? Wrong! I found a treasure calculator app on my iphone, it's the DHF Precious Metal Calculator and it seems to work pretty good and it's free.

You can select gold, silver, or platinum, the corresponding karat and troy, grams, or penny weight. You put in the weight and it tells you what it's worth. It also has market values, pretty handy app if you're one of those folks that find a lot of jewelry and/or silver.

Very nice link, indeed. I keep a metal detecting journal in Excel format (thanks for the free download at http://www.treasurefiend.com/1552.html) ... I added a few sheets to the end of the file, and one of them is for good metal detecting links. This one just got added.

Zar, a friend of mine who has done alot of military work in Africa told me once that you could rent and AK-47 in most of the towns....I guess hunting at night, lugging a MD and an AK would be a bit much huh?...lol

Simple gold value calculator, top of right column here (based on current spot price): http://goldandtreasurehunting.com/

Simple silver value calculator, and coin melt values here (based on current spot price):

Disclaimer: I run these two websites.

Anyone tried using this.....

http://www.silverrecyclers.com/Calcu...alculator.aspx

got just about any info you could possibly want.
Very cool for an instant value on a certain coin with silver content etc etc.
It will actually give you a result in troy ounces taking into account that it may only be 90% or 35%. Quite cool

Default Coinflation

Here's another one that will give you melt value coin by coin. When I go to coin shows I always check the melt value the morning before I walk out the door.
