Default ACE 250 or ACE 350

What would be better for me in the long run since i am looking to get a coil that can search deep.

I am either deciding on the

Garrett Ace 350 with the stock 8.5x11 coil....$300
OR
The Garrett Ace 250 with the standard coil and the 10x14 DD Elliptical.. $325

The biggest coil i can get for a ace 350 is the ace 250's 9x12 concentric or the 8.5x11 from the ace 350.

They have it aftermarket, like an SEF coil, it is on kellyco's website

What is the major difference between the 250 & the 350?

Ace 250 runs at 6.5 kHz and has 2 iron disc segments

Ace 350 runs at 8.25 kHz and has 4 iron disc segments and has a better coil. In fact, it's the same coil that comes on the AT Pro which is beloved by many people.

They're both good detectors and properly used will find many treasures, and last a long time is properly taken care of. The two biggest tips I can give are: 1) learn your machine by reading your manual and following up with lots of practice in the field and 2) take the batteries out if you're going to store it for a long time without being used. Batteries sometimes decide to leak if they're been out in the hot sun and back in your cool house several times, by taking the batteries out while storing you minimize that danger to the machine.

I think it's some luck to cause I've detected in the same area my friends etrac and came out with more silver and Indians so again it's a mixture of knowing ur machine and luck but either way I'm happy my upgrade is only cause of what I've found so far to pay for it so it paid for itself in 6 weeks not bad for a beginner.

I would personally go with the ACE350:
1) because of the 8.5x11 DD coil
2) 8.25kHz freq
3) a "little" more iron disc
4) if you buy the ACE250 and then decide to get the DD then you BAISCALLY bought the 350 as far as $$$ goes minus the freq and iron disc

I primarily hunt with my ACE250 with the 6.5x9 coil, but like to mix the coil setups as well every now and then. I can tell you that the S.E.F. 8x6 Butterfly coil does a pretty good job of "hitting the targets hard". Also, I just recently bought the newer 5x8 DD and that thing is AWESOME. VERY LIGHT WEIGHT and the target "spot" is spot on. I don't know how else to say/explain it I just received it a few days ago and haven't had too much time with it, but THUS FAR I LOVE the 5x8 DD Hope this helps a little...? HH \_

BTW, I have both the ACE250 and 350...

Always go with the better detector, you can always upgrade the coil at a later point for a much cheaper price than upgrading the detector. So get the 350.

Love my 350. I had a 250 and the 350 pinpoints much better that the 250 did. The coil type is what makes the difference with the better pinpoint. Both of them found coins like mad.
