Default My largest Pocket Spill Ever - 9 Coins

I found my largest pocket spill ever today, 9 coins!

I was detecting in a local park. I looked at an old map from the 30s. The park was farmland at the time, but one part of it had something rectangular and white so I thought that area was worth investigating. While detecting near a tree in the area, I got beep, looked down, and saw a penny just lying in the dirt near the tree. Looking closer, there were 4 more pennies right next to it. After picking them up and running my detector over the are again, I got more zinc and dime signals. Digging down less than inch, I found 4 more pennies. Unfortunately, they all turned out to be memorials. But finding 9 coins all together is my largest pocket spill I've ever found. Before today I hadn't found more than 3 together.

The dates range from 1975 to 2003. Since the coins were mostly on the surface, it must have been a recent spill. I'm guessing someone sat by the tree and the coins fell out of their pocket.

After failing to find anything old in the area around the white rectangle, I headed over to the tot lot area to see if there were any easy coins to be found, but I had no luck. In fact there was barely any metal at all. Someone else must have metal detected there recently. The spill turned out to be the only coins I found today.

Every penny counts and it's always to fun to find a pocket spill no matter what the coins are. Good job

Great spill! Had a little one today that drove me and my pointer crazy. Had $1.27 in it, and spread around. Seemed like my pointer was just going nuts! Love those spills though. Congrats a biggie!

Thumbs up

Nice job!
Isn't it great to hit a coin, retrieve it, and then find out there's another? And yet another? Congrats!

KT loves to hear about pocket spills....just makes Him wonder what happened to the kid or person that caused all those coins to drop out! LOL My two most memorable ones were 6 quarters all in a 4 inch square and in a foot square around 15 coins, a nice mix of a couple of quarters, some dimes, one nickel, and half dozen pennies...on a playground in tight next to a piece of equipment...wonder if the kid jumped off or was pushed off!

Default my 6-coin pocket spill

I found 6-penny pocket spill in same hole on border of the driveway of a old abandoned home near my home. The oldest is 1949 Canada penny and the rest are a dime and memorial pennies. When I pulled the Canadian 1949 penny from the same hole,my PP indicated to me there are more coins inside the hole. I pulled out a 1964 penny then a clad dime and 3 zincolns from late 1990s. I cant believe that when I found 6 coins in same hole! The big find occurred last week. I had a blast finding them in same hole!!!

My next challenge: 10 coins! And hopefully with something other than memorial pennies in the mix.

Really a nice pocket spill find !!

I hit my first spill this weekend at a old swing set (only the old frame still standing). I found a dime and 2 pennies. Being a noob, I actually ended up basically digging the same plug 3 times...didn't use by PP properly I guess....a good learning experience!! At least I swung back over the same ground before moving on, ending up finding the 3 coins.

And as KT mentioned, I was wondering what happened that caused the spill. I think they fell out of the swing backward causing this spill...my guess.
