Default Can the coil wire actually interfere with the signal reception ?

I was wondering since the coil wire contains copper , is it wise to wrap the wire around the shaft's bottom near the search coil?
or...

Should I just leave a STRAIGHT SHOT OF WIRE about 1ft up , then start wraping it on the shaft there?

How do you veterans run your wire from the coil to the detector housing ? Velcro straps?
