The SunRay probe was the best investment I have made so far. It will really speed up recovery time. Anything 2 to 3 inches deep you will be able to know exactly where to start your dig. On deep digs it will keep you from inflicting possible damage to your target. Well worth the price!

The DX1 is absolutely the best choice I think.

Take the plunge for the in-line Sunray probe, you won't regret it. I have not heard any negative remarks about them. I love mine and have found it to run circles around the handheld units. Just my 2 cents worth.

Default Sunray pinpointer for the ACE 250? (They have one!)

When I was in Cedar Rapids two weeks ago I met a fellow MDer named Bob in the city park in Marian. Epi-Hunter maybe you know him??? Anyway, he has a Sunray pinpointer but not just ANY Sunray pinpointer. He has the original prototype (for his Minelab) that he helped Ralph build years ago. He gave me Ralph's contact information. The only thing is that I don't know if I can justify getting one for my current detector; the ACE 250. Anyone getting any benefit from the pinpointer using it with an entry level detector?

I have a question about the Sunray probe also. I'm considering geting one for my MXT, but how do they work in the hole when you are close to the target? If it doesn't vibrate or sound off based on proximity to the target - how does it work?

Do you need to hold the pinpoint trigger on your detector while using the probe? Must you look at the detector screen while using? Sorry for being clueless on these - but I need to understand how they work before I make the investment. If anyone can provide a how-to 101 I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Mine was lost in the mail system when I returned it to Sunray for problems. But after using it for the short period of time I had it I didn't like the extra weight and the biggest turn off was that it connected as part of my DFX inline and the info was never correct thats why I sent it in and it went LOST in the Mail...I think a handheld one would do better, something that doesn't connect electronically to the main detector. SORRY, just my opinion.

BTW: I called Sunray at least 5 times and they say my DX 1 never showed up...
