Default Calling all F2 users!!

OK, here's the deal.
If you have an F2 and are using Gray Ghost Headphones, I would like to hear from you. I am having a BIG problem with this combo and I'm not sure why. I have had my GG for about a month now with no problems until last Sunday. Invited on a hunt out of town, my GG suddenly stopped working. Bam! Just like that. It had been raining, but I was hunting in a tree lined area and only when there was a light drizzle. We figured it might have shorted out, so I went ahead and sent them in to DetectorPro who I am still waiting to hear from. As I was leaving to head back to Wichita with silversmith45, my host insisted on me taking his back up pair of Gray Ghost to use! Said I could use these for as long as I needed! What a guy! I would name him but he shuns publicity. Thank you Kurt! (Sovuser!:lol OK, so today I am out hunting and.......you guessed it! The pair he loaned me stopped working! Just like that! I had just hit a 3 quarter hole, stood up and started swinging. After about a minute or so, I realized no sound was coming thru the HeadPhones. Thinking I might have hit the switch that the GG has for different MD's, I switched it. Nothing. Adjusted the volume. Nothing. So, I may be buying another pair of GG. Oh, yeah. Two other things. I had a back up pair of cheap headphones with me so I hooked them up. Worked like a charm. Also, am hunting tomorrow with several forum members. I am going to take the GG and hook them up to their detectors and see what happens. I can't figure it out. Anybody have any ideals?

Did you try the headphones in something other than your detector before sending yours in? Might be your detector from your description of what happened. Did you try other headphones in your detector? I only have cheapies so other than these suggestions I'm afraid I'm not much help.

Did you try changing your mode selector switch on your headphones? Could have possibly bumped it or switch on accident or went faulty..but happening to two of them seems strange.

Well, I am heading out now with my back ups. I have an e-mail sent to a couple of people whose opinion I respect. I will keep you posted.

Well I took them apart tonight and checked the cord with a volt meter at the pot and lt's the cord So probably right at the end where it turns 90 deg. .I tried them in my kids F2 and doesn't seem to be any undo stress on them?I thought maybe since the F2 plugs in on control box it may pull to much on them but since it turns 90 deg. it really doesn't.I think just cheap cord,I will call him and have him put NDT cords on both our head phones for the trouble's and pain and suffering it has caused

After spending 6 years as a Navy ET and the last 10 in IT a coincidental failure like that does not surprise me one bit. When you work in volume you see it sometimes, it's rare, but when you see it in isolated cases like that it seems impossible or makes you believe it's something else like the detector.

Nice move on checking continuity there sov 8)

I bet is was that 3 quarter signal, the headphones just couldn't handle it. Just kidding, sure has me puzzled as well I was thinking the compatibility switch but you already checked that. DetectorPro is a really good company & I am surprised they haven't got back to you yet, did you try calling them Phone: (toll free) 800-367-1995 or 1-845-635-3488 Good luck Patton! Steve.
