Default 2 firsts in 4 boxes of halves today!

Two of these boxes were absolute skunks...not even a low mintage to pull from them....but I think the other two boxes made up for it.

Started pulling some low mintages from the first box and then BINGO! The nicest 64 Kennedy I have ever seen! Looks like it came from right out of someone's mint roll! KT jumped off the Royal Sofa and ran around the Castle showing it to both the Queen and Prince John who were wowwed by it!

Everytime I look at it, I am thinking ....should have an S as a proof it looks so good! After KT settled back down and had a bit of supper He began again on that box and pulled a few more low mintages.

Then He got into the 2nd box....in the first 10 rolls He pulled a nice 68 40%er and a crazy looking 2007 low mintage...painted back....anyone ever seen anything like it before? A few more low mintages and that wrapped it up...like He said the last two boxes were total skunks...but who cares!

Pics tell it all!

Nice finds Your Majesty, that painted one looks as if someone used it as a lucky coin and when he or she's luck failed cashed it in. No wonder he or she didn't have any luck not knowing the value of their lucky coin.

nice finds - I was saving the low mintage halves, but I ended up dumping them when they started to pile up....I have NO interest in a coin worth maybe 5 cents over face value

Thanks all! That lucky coin is really strange...it looks like it was commercially screen printed as the painting is too nice to have been done by hand!

And to answer that comment, again, by a forum member, this time 351 Maverick, KT IS saving those low mintage halves on two speculations: first, that soon the US Mint will stop making Kennedy halves completely, cause you can't use em in most vending machines and they are insanely heavy to carry around...never see anyone paying with any of them at the grocery store....etc., so due to the low mintages they will begin to grow in value...if they are worth 5 cents over face right now, hey, that is 10 % ....where can ya get that on yer investment, huh?

and second, KT is not saving them for Himself but for Prince John, along with the silver coins. If after KT goes to the Final Kingdom Prince John wishes to cash them, that's his business. But I want him to know, I passed a horde to him! My father was going to pass 100 silver dollars and a $20 St. Gauden's gold piece to me, but 2 years before his death, the entire lot was stolen. So KT is just trying to build up another generational horde again!

Since the NIFC halves were just that NIFC and were just purchased directly from the Mint, I personally don't see them ever being worth more than 50 cents to almost everyone. Granted, you might get someone on ebay to pay you a few more bucks for a roll but most of the ones that were minted are already in the hands of collectors.

It's just another way of saving money though - so why not if you like to do it

The Jersey Digger finds that 64 half to be in excellent shape as well. JD only wishes JD had extra income so JD could buy a box of halves well. JD says congrats KT.

Thanks all for the comments! If collectors have all the low mintages pretty well scarfed up from circulation, then what are the NEW collectors gonna do to fill out their sets????...They may buy from me in a few years!

And FYI, bank overage today on the first $1000 dump of halves was $3.90! Will do the remaining dump on Monday and post it in here! The Monday dump gave me some extra so the total for this run's overage is $6.65 !!!

JD, The Queen allows KT the priviledge of using her nestegg, His Highness gets the silver and she gets the bank overages! So far this year we are over $120 in overage, that's better than 5 %! Can't get that at ANY bank!
