Default Sea Hunter XL200 for $200??

This isn't really the metal detector I want to buy, however there's an ad on craigslist for one for 200 bucks. The guy said this thing is from the early 90's. That kinda worries me. I don't want to spend 200 dollars just for something to go wrong 3 months later. I can't really find much info on these MDs, only the MKII. Is it worth risking $200 on such an old detector???
