Just scrub with an eraser and then wash with warm water until the gunk comes off. Works pretty nice in my opinion!
Before is on left - After is on right. Bottom pic is half-way cleaned to show the difference. |

Or you can use baking soda and a little water to make a paste. But why bother on a clad bi-centenial? They minted more than 500 MILLION of them, so they are as common as can be. To each his own though. : )

We used to do this trick when we were kids even proof coins for no particular reason. Call me crazy but we didn't know right from wrong. Ruined a lot of nice coins that way.
