Default Finally, My First Wheat!

I've been hitting the north side of my house pretty steady since I got my F2 last month. In a 10X15 foot area I have pulled out 163 Memorial pennies, along with a couple of quarters and dimes. Most of them are 0-1 inch down, and the newest coin is a 2004. I suspect they were somehow stuck under a dumpster that was put in that spot when I had a new roof installed years ago, or they fell out of my daughters' pockets when they were young. I guess I should have given them larger allowances.

Today, I made my first visit to a local park. In 2.5 hours I found one Memorial cent and a handful of pulltabs and other assorted trash. The ground was frozen solid in most places, so I focused more on spots in the sun than high traffic areas. It was nice to finally venture forth from my yard. I saw signs of other people having been there, and I must say it's nice to know my hole fills look pretty good compared to some.

After I got home and thawed out, I decided to hit the 'bank' in my yard. I found 28 memorials and a quarter. Just outside the hotspot, I pulled out my first wheat, a 1941! It was far enough away, and down about 3-4 inches, so I doubt it was part of the penny party. I haven't found much outside the hotspot, so I was beginning to worry that someone had detected the yard years ago. If they did, it's nice to know they left some behind. Once things thaw a little I'll focus more on that area and dig more of the jumpy signals I've been thinking of as trash. Thanks for reading!

Steve

Congrats!
Went out today and hit a '44 Wheatie that was frozen in the ground. I also use an F2. Did yours ring up as a dime on the wheatie?

A 70-71. The dime tag lit up. It was hitting in all directions.

Awesome! Until I found my first, it seemed the F2 was discriminating out anything older than 64. Now you know it works!
