It won't work. Your coil cable is already shielded. The source of EMI is coming from your coil. There's really nothing you can do to keep the coil from picking up EMI noise. Some detectors have a noise cancel feature, which allows you to slightly adjust the receiving frequency of the machine so it's not on the same harmonic frequency as the current EMI source. This will help to squelch EMI, but not completely.

Umm I don't think that will help with ground balancing.
EMI = electromagnetic interference. If your geting "noise" from power lines or something like that it couldn't hurt to try. It's one of those things that works for some not for others.
But as far as ground balance I don't think it has any effect. That has to do with the mineralizationin the ground. But hey I could be wrong..

Its like if i leave it alone I only get 5in depth accurately so I really need to get my GB better.

Yes, EMI does affect the ground balancing of your machine. Your machine doesn't know the difference between an actual target in the ground and noise from EMI picked up by your coil and transmitted to your detector's main circuit board. If you can find a location with no or minimal EMI, then you will be able to ground balance your machine more accurately. Also, make sure there are no conductive targets in the ground where you do your ground balancing.
