Default ordered a sunray inline probe for my ACE 350

Well I ordered a sunray inline probe for my ace 350 yesterday from hollands brook and can't wait till it gets here, I've done a lot of reading and comparing between all the hand held pin pointers and sunray and the discrimination capabilities and not being able to lose it won me over plus I got a great deal on it!(Thank You Marc)

This is a early birthday present for me and the last upgrade for a while since I have a little one on the way I will be doing some air tests and what all that and plan on writing a review for it after I get out in the field with it, i think I may be the only one on the forum that has bought one for the ace series lol or atleast haven't seen any posts regarding it.

I thought about adding one to my 250 as well at one point.
If you plan on keeping your Ace then the expense of the Sunray is justifiable. They are a pretty good chunk of change compared to the price of any of the Ace line...money you probably won't recoup if you ever plan on selling your Ace.
Which is something I probably never will do. I am on my fourth 250 and am probably like you. Will be many many years before I find the need to add another detector to my arsenal.
Let us know your likes and dislikes of the Sunray...not a lot of inlput from fellow members about these probes so I will be interested in hearing what you have to say.

I had two handhelds, vibraprobe and bullseye II. Bullseye II was worthless, button failed, got a replacement ($7 to have the piece of junk sent in to be fixed) only to have the button fail again within 3 months so I did the switch mod (now my emergency backup). The vibraprobe also died (out of warranty of course) so I went with the sunray.

Takes some time getting use to (much more powerful than the two handhelds) and I love it. Just don't forget to switch it back to the detector mode. Nothing like swinging your coil when you are pinpointer mode

Default Good choice !

I think I only left my switch in "probe" 3 times. By then I had a nice routine down.
HH !

Yea I know what you mean, I plan on keeping my ace indefinitely it has been a real great machine and I plan on posting a write up when swing season starts up here.

I've been using a harbor frieght PP and it has served its purpose but the button is starting to fail which means I'll have to replace it and I noticed that when using it in colder temps it becomes useless

lol when I have multiple good signals to dig in a small area I'll shut my machine off and sometimes forget to turn it back on and it sucks when you are working a nice hot spot and have to go over that land again lol

Garrett Pro-pointer works well. After using, I wouldn't think of using a different one.

Yes but when holding the pinpoint button on the machine it works the same as piinpoint mode think of it as a hand held 1" coil.

Thanks, I still haven't bought my pinpointer yet (not counting the con-tech)

I use the SunRay probes on both of my detectors and have been very pleased with them. I lost a couple of pinpointers prior to buying the probes and also broke one. I love the probe because it is always with you and has the same discriminating ability as the coil depending on how you have your machine set up. The disadvantages are that you have to be moving the probe unless you are in pinpoint mode and then you lose your discrimination. It also is too powerful at times and makes it a little difficult to get right on the target you are trying to find. I like the propointer tones getting closer together as the target nears the tip. I think that there are advantages to both types of pinpointers but I prefer the inline probe because it is always with me and performs very well.
