Isn't that where they just banned metal detecting in 4 precincts. Isn't Austin in Traverse County? I heard John Hamilton was the director of parks down there and was the reason metal detecting was banned in those precincts. He moved to Louisville, KY and is now our director of parks and doing the same thing up here. I don't want to rehash was is going on here because it's under older threads from me and mentioned on other md sites.

I live in New Braunfels, TX and have been detecting for 10 years. I use a Minelab Explorer (an old but reliable machine). I've learned most of what I know from hunting buddies I met during my Air Force career. That said, I'd be more than happy to pass on what I know, or just go hunting with someone who could still teach me a thing or two about the hobby.
