Default AT Pro Question, and couple of others

Hi,

I looked around but didn't really find a answer.

How can I tell where the center is for finding something? Every time I do a dig, I end up digging over a square foot of top soil. I did find out I should be using pro mode thou.

#2 is, what is the update with a coil? Is there something wrong with the one that it comes with?

Advice: Don't use your Pro Pointer in the hand that you have pins in, it was driving me nuts with the constant beeping. Quite frustrating to pull it out and as soon as you turn it on it starts beeping. Didn't dawn on me till I got it home.

Thanks for your help

good link dogpound. I will also add that a smaller coil the 5 x 8 makes it easier to pinpoint with also.

But the smaller coil don't go as deep? I was under the impression that the larger the coil, the more depth. But maybe the smaller coil is more concentrated?

You are correct. But that little coil goes almost as deep and can see between junk targets better. If you find yourself in a junk filled area or even a nice yard where you need to be careful with your holes the little coil has a place. If I had to give up a coil I would keep the 5 x 8. Deep is only one aspect. There is a time and place for it.

Great post! The 5X8 is a VERY good coil. Good depth and GREAT separation!

Don't mean to toot my own horn here but... TOOT TOOT!

I did a side by side of the OEM coil and the 5x8 coil.

Just to sum up, the 5x8 does make it easier to pinpoint simply because it is half the size of the OEM coil.

However, a good rule of thumb for coil depth is the diameter of the coil is the general depth range it will give you. The larger the coil the deeper it goes, but the less concentrated it is on smaller objects further down. a smaller coil, while not going as deep is able to focus on smaller objects such as coins.

Check out the link above.
