Default Finds from the road so far

I'm on my way to Alaska! My mother ( I'm 15) got a position at a flight service station in Alaska and we are driving up from Texas. We of course brought our metal detectors and bought gold pans for when we do arrive in Alaska. We have been on the road for 5 days and are in Montana. We have gone through Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone, and will be going through Glacier National Park Tomorrow.

We have only had time to detect for about an hour or so total. Once at a tot-lot in Wyoming, once at a rest stop/park, and once at an old park here in Montana.

At the tot-lot we found 2 nickels, 1 dime, and a junk ring.

At the rest stop we found nothing but pull-tabs.

At the old park we found 3 clad pennies and my mom found her first silver, a 1962 D dime at 3 inches!!

Sounds like an ideal trip ! I have a friend outside Anchorage who gets a good amount of gold with his detector. He goes to Gaines Creek a lot but has dug gold many places over the years. Good luck, hit em all !! Steve in so az

Careful passing through those national parks. I've heard they can arrest you just for having a detector in the car.

Default Alaska... Gold Country!

Hey when you get settled up there, we want to see some pictures posted of Blackbeards gold!

I asked a park ranger in Glacier National Park if those bear bells you're supposed to wear on the trail really worked. He answered in a question:

Do you know how to tell the difference in black bear droppings and grizzly droppings?? The grizzly droppings have bells in it!!

Have fun up there and stay away from Grizzly Bears!
