Default Compadre with 8 inch Coil

Here is my Compadre I put a connector on so I can change coils. Bought a extension cable and used the connectors. My 5 3/4 coil can be plugged up now too.

Here is an air test i did outside.

Disc set: Iron / 1c Zn
1c = 9 " 1c = 7 1/2 "
5c = 10 " 5c = X
10c = 8 1/2 " 10 c = 7 1/2 "
25c = 9 1/2 " 25c = 8 "
Chucky Cheese Token (Iron Disc) = 10 1/2 "

Was reading your post on the modifications forum, nice work. Something I might do myself one of these days. You'll have to try the Compadre with the 10X12 coil.

I saved the air test results from the Compadre I had (with 5.75" coil) - Here they are in case you are interested

Quarter 7"
Dime 7"
Penny 8"
Nickel 8.5"

Using clad coins, good solid repeating beeps.

Where can I get this extension cable and 8 inch coil? I think I'd prefer an 8 inch on my compadre over the stock 5 inch. Thanks...

Put a WTB add on the forums for the 8" coil and keep an eye out for them on eBay. If I get some time tomorrow I will check some of my contacts to see if any of them have anything laying around @ a reasonable price for you Bonesquat.

I would ask some of the sponsors of this forum if they have a extension cable they would sell you if they don't you can get one here http://www.dmobx.com/tesoroaccessories.htm I have dealt with this place a few times with no problems. And here is another place http://www.metaldetector.com/tesoro-...extender-cable

Why not just get a pair of Switchcraft connectors (M/FM)?
You could get connectors Tesoro use in there control box's and do a pro job.

I Think this is the right page.(long time since I bought some).

Just a curiosity question....since this mod was done outside the control box, as opposed to installing an actual jack in the housing, what effect (if any) would this have on their warranty?

Void...... unless you can put it back exactly the way it was without them knowing about it. But I wouldn't try to pull the wool over their eyes, if I was going to do the mod. I would tell myself, I will continue to use this or sell/trade it to someone else knowing that it works fine but no longer has a warranty.

Has the larger size coil been trimmed?
