Default Old Bell?

Hi All, This is my first post. I found this little bell today and I was wondering if anybody knows how old it is and what it was used for. Thanks. The bell is about an inch in diameter.

Default It just rattles

The ringer thing is just a clump of rusted iron. Thanks for the reply.

Default it's a crotal bell

it was used to have audible contact on livestock as well as pets. They can be fairly old. Ask around and I'm sure you can get a more detailed ID. I've found two thus far, but They were both split, to bad they don't match.
