Default Big silver, little silver and one silver that's a long way from home.

The water at the beach I've been hunting a lot lately is starting to reclaim the sand pushed onto it by the last big typhoon leaving only the sidewall worth hunting so took the Excal for a spin yesterday, walking back and forth over a 200 meter stretch of wet sand with some good cuts in it, pulling out a few more coins each pass as the tide pulled off more sand. Did this for about 4 hours till I ran out of targets, scoring a large 60g silver bracelet and a tiny silver religious pendant (the smallest I've found to date), a pocket watch (the first for me, looks like a replica), a good looking junk ring and crusty clad including a clad quarter.

Still had some time so moved onto dry sand and that's where I got the find of the day couldn't believe it, have wanted to get my hands on one of these for awhile now, when I first saw it I thought no way!!! It was a 1938 walking liberty half dollar!!! been made into a button but what are the odds of finding a coin like that in Japan. In my book the best looking silver coin out there. The owner probably never even knew how old the coin was or the beautiful design on the other side. The eagle side is worn but still in good condition, the other side is in better condition with the shiny finish still on it just hard to get a photo of it that does it justice, the lines on the dress are very distinct, don't think I'll ever find another one in such good condition. Don't think I'll ever find another one in Japan period. Shame about it being made into a button, what a waste of such a beautiful coin. But for me it's definitely a keeper.
You just never know what the next hunt will turn up.
Happy hunting.

Well done on another great hunt.

That is a big button! I wonder what the collector value of a coin like that would be if it wasn't a button. You got your fat chain you've been searching for lately...just the wrong colour Still, nice scrap value at 60g.

My very first find detecting was really similar to that small religious pendant. I'll try to find it and post a picture later.

Cheers.

Nice finds, and good deal on the big silver!

The half dollar is still worth $12.50 in melt.

Your big silver is worth about $55.

So you made well over $67 in silver PLUS all the coins.

Some really neat finds, never seen a button like that... Really like the pocket watch, after cleaning you may have found gem. Wonder what time is shows when it was dunked.
