And they didn't even use a detector to find them!

Nice finds. At least they were both smart enough to realize what they had and not spend them on sweets or something.

WOW!!! Why can't I ever find something like that!?!

Someone should tell them tho that by "polishing" the coins they will ruin their collector value.

That was very lucky. What a great legacy to pass on to the family.

If nothing else, it goes to show the jars are still out there.. WE just need to find them.

Thumbs up Smell the Roses!

I know these kids that found these coins. They are great kids. It is really too bad that bonesquat was never a youngster, or raised any either, or he would look for the great thing these kids did rather than be so critical. I grew up on a farm in Iowa and I had to shovel up stuff in the barn from behind the cows that smelled much better than what I think bonesquat would smell like. Now I know why he has that name.

with everything there it looks like someone lost their metal detecting finds. maybe someone took someone's finds and stashed them and the girls found them.

With the bags the coins were in within the jar and the other things found in the jar, I would say it was definately buried. The creek bed had erroded away and there was a section of old fencing near by. I firmly believe it was buried in the late 40's early 50's and not someone's lost findings.

Bonesquat is a good guy. He speaks his mind and that gets him in trouble sometimes. he manned up and apologized. He has been on here for awhile and he knows when he says something wrong.

As for the girls finds that is truly awesome. As a detectorist, that is what our dreams are made of. Congrats girls...
