Default Just what is considered falsing?

I have had my AT Pro for 2 months now and have about 35 hours on it and have found alot of clad (but no silver or gold). It has a 511 serail number. I see alot of talk about false signals but am I not sure what a false signal is. Sometimes I get a tone when I swing in one direction and not the other. Sometimes I get a few of these in a roll. And then I can move 50 or 100' away and it stops. I assume it is just junk that the AT Pro is trying to figure out what it is. And sometimes I hear a tone when I brush the coil on high glass when I am swinging. Maybe I am not keeping the coil level. So I am not sure if I have a problem and just living with it or not. Any input?

JC

Falsing is when you bump the coil into something and you get a extra tone or running it over wet grass sometimes gives a extra beep.. also running it hot the detector will false...

Falsing is your detector's discrimination rejecting things that are on the fringe of your setting and this can be exaggerated by several factors including high sensitivity, trashy areas, and wet ground.

the falsing issue i had with my AT pro was if i held the coil straight out in front of me parallel with the ground and gently rock the coil back and forth it would just chatter, this was done outside with nothing metalic around or EMF. it would also be very chatty while swingin the coil while detecting and (more than normal) and that wasn't even scrubbing the coil off the ground or hittin the coil off shrubs or limbs. after a call to garrett they recommended that i send it in for a checkup. after its return it was much more stable and worked great
