Default Dug Coin Sets

So today I got my first shield nickel!! Which was the last of the oldies for my nickel set !! I excluded the "westward journey" set, didn't want to dig through the clad box to see if I have them all. My oldest of the non-silver Jefferson nickels is 1941, but it's somewhere in the clad box, so I just grabbed the first nickel I came across for the pic.

So here it is, my dug nickel set!!

Now it's your turn:
Post your dug coin sets!

I'd love to see them, and I know some of you have some really impressive dug coin collections. I'd love to see them for inspiration!

That's awesome. That is also an awesome idea! I have considered trying it with headstamps too. Cool post and great pic.

Thanks turtlefoot! I hope some other people chime in with their coin sets, I know lots of you have dug coin collections that put mine to shame haha!

I went through my clad box (UGH!), and found that I have the new "forward facing Jefferson" for the collection, as well as both 2004 Westward Journey nickels with the standard Jefferson bust. For the 2005 Westward Journey nickels with a different Jefferson image, I have the buffalo but not the ocean view nickel!!! So of 10 total US nickels minted, I have 9. I'm still calling it a set, as I have one of each obverse in the Westward Journey, plus the forward facing Jefferson and all the oldies. But now I really wanna find that ocean view nickel and get them framed!

Guess I need to spend some time at the totlots diggin' nickels........

Thanks Terry!

Nobody has any to share? There's lots to choose from. How about all the barber coins? Or all the seated ones? (that'd be a sight to see, I know somebody must have it!!) All the denominations minted in WW2? All the state quarters? I know some of you have to have something LOL

2nd from left. They are, in L-R order Shield (unreadable date), V (or Liberty, 1892), Buffalo (1918), Silver Jefferson (1945), Copper-Nickel Jefferson. I sure wish my V was 1913!! haha

Awesome, burien! How far along are you? It'll be possible if you just use "large cent" as a goal, instead of trying to find all the different varieties. You'd have to be lucky indeed to get the early ones!! Besides that the toughie will be the flying eagle of course. And, if you want to be a stickler, the steel penny. Though I probably wouldn't, cuz the odds of finding one with a MD.... And just like me looking for that ocean view nickel, you'd need to spend some time at the newer parks to find the 4 bicentennial 2009 pennies!!

Sounds like quite the challenge! I think I'm gonna try it!! So far I've got... braided hair LC, IH, Wheat, Copper Mem, Zinc Mem, At least 2 of the bicentennial pennies, and the new shield one. So really all that's left is a flying eagle for me, 2(ish) bicentennials, and filling out the LC's. FUN!

I am building a complete dug Indian penny set, right now it is about 75% complete. I have found several of the hard ones too, the only ones I think I will not find is the 1877 and the 1909s besides those two I think I can do it!

My latest dug coin set, only two coins, but still not an easy one to complete! I just got some new coin holders for them, and felt like sharing. I've also got some more info on these coins over at my blog.

G4E, if you happen to read this, post your partial type set. It's one of the more impressive pictures on the forums, and would fit nicely in this thread
