Default 1913 church gives up Nickel Trifecta and MINT Barber Silver

went back to the 1913 church that I got permission for yesterday. I spot hunted it yesterday for an hour and found a 1937 buffalo, 1906 indian and 3 early wheats 1913, 1916, 1917

Today I hit it pretty hard for almost 4 hours, dug every nickel signal I got, which produced a nice nickel trifecta, 1939 Jefferson, 1928 buffalo, and 1911 V nickel. Didn't dig too much trash only a few foil balls and beaver tails which came in close to the nickel range.

Found 8 wheats, ranging from 1914 to 1951, and 2 silver dimes. 1918-s well worn mercury. And a absolutely MINT 1916 barber dime. This signal just screamed 01-41 from all directions. I honestly expected a wheat penny, as I have dug many wheats at 01-41. The barber dime was a very welcome surprise!

Every barber dime I have dug this year has come in at around 12-41, never the normal 12-45 area like other silver dimes, not sure why?

All in all it was a superb hunting weekend with a total of 10 silvers found. The barber was #55 for the year.

I noticed that too with all 6 barber dimes I have dug this year. 12-40 to 12-42. Thought I was digging wheats and got surprised everytime! I have also noticed that really worn mercury dimes come in around 12-41 or 12-42 sometimes too.

The one and only barber dime I found was last week. It came in at 39 on the CO and the Fe was all over the place (still got A pretty good high tone though). There were 2 nails in the hole with it. Mine didn't look anywhere near as good as yours either. That thing is A beauty. Congrats on all the great finds!

Keith
