Default In the Treasure Corner - Flashlights

This week's program finds us out on a tangent from our regular treasure hunting topics.

Flashlights probably aren't on the "A" list of metal detecting tools for most people.

But as you'll hear in the show, I've always been excited by flashlights, and I always have one with me.

In this program, I explain my fascination with them, and offer a couple of tips as to how they can come in handy in treasure hunting.

Listen at: http://thetreasurecorner.com.

I enjoyed the story, but it seems like just one more thing to carry around with me in the field, and one more step in the "locating" process slowing down my recovery time. I'm surprised you didn't talk about flashlights/headlamps/coil-illumination for night hunting in this podcast, though. Perhaps some other time

looking forward to getting home and checking it out.

Great job on the podcasts!

Yes, a small flashlight is one more thing to carry around, but the one I use is about the size of a ballpoint pen. I don't even notice it in my pocket. (Of course, I carry more junk than a ten-year-old, even when I'm not detecting).

I have a couple of those headlamps, and they are great for finding the small parts you drop when you're trying to fix your clothes dryer in a dark corner of the basement.

Interesting story. I often detect after dinner until it gets hard to see in the plug hole. The pinpointer light is a little to dim for my eyes too.

I wonder if one could attach a very small flashlight using rubber bands to the far end of the pinpointer (away from the tip) without getting any interference? If it worked, it would eliminate carrying yet another item around.

Sounds like a great idea! Or you could get a headlamp, which looks a bit wacky but works great, and I think they are about five bucks.

Another entertaining story, Dan.

One line did hit me kind of funny, though.

...."and I still carry a pocket flashlight whenever I am wearing pants."

Made me flash on an image of you walking around in public with big old loud colored boxer shorts...and no flashlight!

Thanks for the unintentional chuckle!
