From what I've been able to find out the Double Eagle metal detectors were being custom made back in the sixties by two southern gentlemen for the really serious Civil War relic hunter. The Double Eagle came with a huge coil (apparently also custom made) which was in the neighborhood of 3 Ft. long and could easily reach that deep too. Will send you a PM on the gentleman to contact for more information on them as he supposily still uses one.
