Hi from Nova Scotia
Hi.
I'm from Sackville, Nova Scotia. Just bought a used Fisher Gold Strike on Kijiji yesterday and hit the beach for the first time today. Had a little trouble with erroneous readings at first in the wet sand but once I relocated to the dry stuff and reset the auto ground balance, it quieted down considerably and started finding real targets. Mind you the majority was still garbage (which i took it with me as you can see in the pics) I had my wife and 2 year old daughter with me, so, I only had maybe a solid half hour to get some searching done while the girls were busy playing on the beach. My only "good hit" was the 1973 dime that looks like it has been in the rough surf sinch the day it was minted. Strangely enough you can still make out the date quite well and the spot where it says 10 cents. A small portion of the Bluenose is still distinguishable as well. The beach glass in the pic was found about 15 feet from where I found the dime. One of the nicest pieces I have found. There is very intense wave action in this area and I just love what it does to the rocks and beach glass I find. I'm excited about getting into this hobby and I have wanted to for a long time. I have recurring dreams about finding lost coins in all kinds of crazy places and I have always been fascinated by gold and the thought of maybe finding something from a ship long ago lost at sea.
