Default Gold, Silver,1901 IH

Well not 10 feet from where I spent over 3 hours yesterday my first find for today was this awsome old 14K ring. If anyone has a guess at what kind of stone that is I would like to know. I just couldn't believe it as I watched it sitting on top of a scoop full of sand and slowly saw it sink to the bottom of the scoop. There just isn't a better feeling. I dug my share of nails again today but the good stuff is all mixed in so I just kept on digging. I came home for lunch and went back out for two more hours but it was too hot and I had to call it a day. I put in about 5 hours all together and it seems like as long as I keep sifting there are still more oldies. The non-catseye marble is huge and is almost a perfect match for the small one I found the other day. Good luck, Jim

I just got an ID on the stone from another forum member. It is a Carnelian stone and when I googled it I found it has an interesting history, If you have a minute check out what the Egyptians thought of this stone.

Jim... great finds... if you are hunting all metal why not get a PI like the Dual Field... you will find even deeper stuff than you are finding now... the BHer is a good detector but it doesn't have the depth of a PI... I have owned the BHer and the DFX as well as the Excalibur but they were missing the deepest gold that a PI will sniff out... I would look into finding one... that stone is very cool... not sure what it is though although the cut is called a cabochon

Great finds thanks for sharing. Love that ring. I agree about the carnelian. It is a beautiful stone. Brownish red translucent.I found one last week in a silver pendant and consider it to be one of my better finds. attached

It is not like that every day for sure. Sometimes I spend 4 hours and find a bucket of nails and two coins, but a day like today makes up for it. Thanks, Jim
