Default Newbie from Northern NY..

Hello my name is Willus and hope everyone is well..
Like alot of people i've been interested in hunting since i was a kid but this is the year i'm going to do it.. My mother owns about 300 acres on the St lawrance river that my great grandparents from Finland bought in the 1910's.. The island that it's on has abit of history from first settlers being indians to 8 yrs ago the discovery of a Civil War cemetary.. I know i'm not going to find that million dollar ring but hopefully find some cool relics or maybe i'll just find scrap iron the family buried.. lol
I haven't bought a detector yet.. There is so much info out there that you start confusing your self.. There are 4 that i've been looking at but i'll ask my questions in a different thread.. But anyway this is a cool site and hope to get to know some people..
Happy Hunting..

Welcome aboard Willus... A civil war cemetary that far north? Interesting, would that be 'civil war period' rather than resulting from the Civil War? HH RickO

Hey RickO.. Thanks for the Welcome.. In fact there is a Civil War Cemetary over there.. If you Google Grindstone Island with civil war you'll find it.. Also if you or anyone is burning some time and like reading about history google Grindstone Island with /war of 1812/war or grindstone island/ there is othere stuff but want to have things to talk about later on.. lol

Welcome from New Jersey. That sounds like an ideal place to not only begin detecting but to have the history there as well!

Thanks for all the welcomes.. Me and the old lady did some walking this weekend and found alot of glass.. What the coolest find i thought was 2 liquor bottles that said (federal goverment prohibits resale or reuse of this bottle) After picking the dog and deer tics off of use were ready to look some more.. Still no detector yet but its still exciting finding stuff thats been sitting for years..
