Default homemade coil cover

My previous coil cover finally cracked and I'm waiting to get a new one. Has anyone tried wrapping the coil with a few layers of electrical tape, to prevent from scratching and giving a little padding?

Default Coil cover....

Haven't tried that but don't see why it wouldn't work, atleast for a little while. I have a plastic dish that we used for kitty food and it's the right size. Thinking about it for a protector. Attach it with rubber bands ?

If you have one on order, I recommend doing nothing. It doesn't hurt a coil to get a little scratched. However, if you can't find a replacement...the electrical tape should work fine.
