Post I have taken my second step...

Soon I'll be able to walk. Ordered a GTI 1500 yesterday for $668.05 and it should be in Thurs. or Friday. I'm looking into some new headphones as I want them for detecting and need some for TV/Movie late night. Just looked at Koss UR-29 at Kmart for $30 and they look awesome, inline volume too.

Anybody have other makes or models they like ? Also think maybe two sets as the detector ones will likely see some tough times. How about straight cable or coiled ? I like straight for home theater applications but think the coiled would be better for detecting.

I vote for straight cables. I don't want a coiled "spring" pulling on my headphones when I lay the MD down to dig a hole.

Hey, picked up my first coin tonight ! 1981 P dime. Even better was the brass pointer from my neighbors sundial. 83 grams at 3 ", also a .22 caliber casing. Got about 3 hours and 15 minutes in total. Other finds are grommet from a tarp, foil and some thumb tacks. Oh yeah, a beautiful rusty nail !

Oh so hooked now. Gonna pick up a Harbor Freight PP and am considering a Garrett Pro Pointer.

Had you bought the 1350 or 2500 you could have gotten a free pro pointer. As for phones I like the ones garrett has. Bout 30 bucks.

I like the Rat Phones... there are several good head phones out there, but these seem to deliver the best sound. Light too.... RickO

Your vote is denied! Coiled cables ROCK! The one set of headphones I had with a straight cable, I ended up taping them to the shaft.
