It sounds like Monte has a chip on his shoulder when it comes Tesoro.

I definitely didn't like the way he bashed, mocked and belittled one of Tesoro's employes. That's wrong. PERIOD

Close to 50 years experience in this hobby, technologically more knowledgeable than most on past and current models of several brands,not to mention he has been dealing several brands over the years including Tesoro.
He is one of the best teachers in this biz,has put on classes over the years, and is extremely sought out as a speaker at all sorts of gatherings and has been for decades.

One of the most respected people in this hobby, and evidently somebody made a crack kind of like that, totally disrespected his opinion, and accused him of of being a White's dealer that knew nothing about Tesoro, or the state of this hobby, and evidently he was called on it.
I started it, this guy made me mad, but then I left to go out to dinner and I guess things got pretty heated with some of the replies.

Monty is a much honored, loved and a respected Yoda on most of the forums, and people that know this I assume came to his defense.

It is a shame it was all wiped out, too, because in my opinion, what he said made 100% sense about the current state of Tesoro, the new Outlaw, and what Tesoro needs to do to actually stay in business and grow.

Ahh, I see. Are you sure the new poster, "..accused him of of being a White's dealer that knew nothing about Tesoro, or the state of this hobby," because I saw where the poster himself said he was a Whates and Tecknetics dealer, but hadn't sold a Tesoro since 1984. Does that sound accurate?

I thinkk the new guys response in the "Thread Deleted" thread over there was pretty spot on. He says that Monte came into the Tesoro Forum, and badmouthed Tesoro. Then the guy disrepected Vince Gifford who is the new guys friend.

Thanks for the heads up on Monte. Guess he is around 70? Probably set in his ways pretty good.

Terry is the guy that has no clue about anything metal detector related. He just uses what the guys at Tesoro tell him is the best. Then comes on the forums and spews a bunch of nonsense about magical microprocessors, and says pulse delay is a myth. That is who Terry is...

agreed! Monte is VERY knowledgeable! I have talked to him several times on the phone. Every time I do I learn several new things. Love talking to a man with his experience! Great all around guy. I feel llike when he talks I should be taking notes! Lol

He is an accomplished detectorist who was once a Tesoro dealer. He is best known for his testing of different detectors in his soil which is a little more severe than normal. He has been very helpful, to me, in selecting detectors-of which the Compadre is my favorite. He also was the first to instruct on setting the g/b trimmer on fixed g/b Tesoros-which helped in some areas. I have been able to understand why the lil' Compadre will find a gold chain in min. disc. mode that the Vaquero, Cibola, Silver umax will not even sound on in a/m mode-at least I think I understand it. I'm still amazed when I see it happen. He is also credited for most of Tabdog's choice of detectors(Tesoro) and Tab constantly quoted him. He constantly holds seminars and devotes much of his time to helping other detectorists. He holds no agenda and recommends detectors according to the detectorist's seriousness. And he will quickly tell you that no detector is perfect. I appreciate his time.
