Ok, so I have had my F2 now for about a month and I am thinking I need to upgrade to the 10" or 11"DD. I have mostly been hunting on my own property which is an old farmstead from the 1800s. I have found your standard old farm iron, however all the clad I've found has been from the 1970s and is about 4" deep. I am even finding Coke cans from the 1980s that are burried 6" deep. So my thought is, if I have any good stuff (pre 1950s coins), they have to be buried a lot deeper than 6". I refuse to think that there are no silver coins on my property. So...what are your thoughts? 10"....DD?...or give this F2 to my kid and upgrade to something else?
thanks, Darin |

I too have a fisher f2. I have been thinking about upgrading but not sure if the 10'' coil would be a good choice for this summer and then upgrade over the winter months! With the price of the 10'' being alot cheaper that the DD, I would go with the 10''.

Dang! thats deep!
I think the F2 is a good machine, however I think I am expecting more out of it. Maybe a larger coil will help.

I have a F2 with the DD on it. with my soil I cant really hunt to much in AM mode but I do coin shoot with it so I can tell you that the 11" DD added about 1-3" to some coins in my test garden, it really all depends on the coin. Will the 11" DD make it a e-trac? well no, but if your just looking for a a reliable inch or 2 then grab the 11" if you wanna go to 10" on a coin I would recommend the upgrade option. with my F2 I can strike a dime at about 7-8" tops, maybe its my soil and thats with my DD, stock I use to grab them at like 4-5" but I have heard a few people on these forums whom grab them at 8" with the stock coil lol so I mean I guess it depends on where your at and how the coin is laying, but all in all I can tell you, IN my soild I added anywhere from 10-30% depth with the DD

I can dig targets at 4-6 inches easily with my 8" coil, and I have dug dimes in the past at 7" or a little more.
I am going to get the 10" and try it out. As coils go, this is actually pretty cheap. The more expensive DD coil might go deeper in mineralization, but the concentric is the deepest in mild soil. __________________ |
