Default First water hunt finally!

I have had my excal II for about a month and finally got it wet today. Got to do a 3 hour hunt at a local lake. I have the plugger straight shaft and stealth 8" scoop.

Everything worked well. That stealth scoop is a beast. The straight shaft balanced well, but I found that as is got into deeper water the coil wanted to float up and I found myself having to push it to the bottom. I have thumb issues so I will have to find a fix for that. I will try chest mount next time. I think the box being behind my elbow pivots it up as shaft and coil get deeper.

I need to learn what it is telling me. I dug a load of pop tops, bottle caps and aluminum can slag. I also found several coins. I am hearing the targets without problem. Just need to understand what it is telling me. I use an E-trac and really understand it. I will miss the multiple tones but suspect once I get a feel for the excal I will by happy.

It takes a bit to get used to, but excal is a heck of a machine when you get it...

Hang in there, you'll figure it out. I use the hip method and attached a lanyard to the shaft and it goes over my hear and shoulder. After I find the target I release the shaft and let it float. If you try it that way be careful of the connection to the controls. I've never had an issue but I've heard other wise.
