Which one is better, and what makes one so much better than the other?
Is the difference worth an extra $100? Peter __________________ |

Spectrum XLT has 4 custom program slots....Whites Eagle Spectrum has 2 program slots.
Display on XLT is larger..... and nicer looking. XLT has Rachet PinPointing that automatically de-tunes for center location. XLT has Transmit Boost which selects the intensity of the signal transmitted from loop. Battery system is different. 4 C cells in Eagle Spectrum. XLT uses 8 AA's. Thats about all I can think of. Basically they operate very similar. You will do well with either. I have had the Spectrum Eagle since 1992. It is a great machine. You might have to adjust AC sensitivity, VDI sensitivity, and PreAmp gain lower or higher according to conditions to keep it stable. These settings will give you greater depth, but too high and you will chatter and be unstable. I would never sell my Spectrum, and if I had the chance at the right price, I would buy an XLT for myself too. Robert

And the XLT weights quite a bit less but I like them both.
