Default AT Pro vs. Sand Shark

Ok, I have an AT Pro but it is really confusing so I do not use it hardly at all. What I am thinking is, for salt water, is the Sand Shark better? I mean, I need one waterproof (my MXT is not) and something that works in salt water. The AT pro will work but it is confusing and made all these weird noises yesterday. I have not taken the batteries out yet but will today. Could that be the problem? I scanned over a dime and penny and did not hear anything at all. For the record, my MXT only 'binged' when I was right over them. I guess in a nutshell, should I buy the SS (or any other metal detector for that matter) and sell the AT Pro?

My short answer is - YES! The Sand Shark is better for saltwater detecting. Read this http://www.hollandsbrook.com/blog/sa...detecting-101/

Default Sand Shark or nothing??

I am getting a Sand Shark soon! However I am also looking at upgrading from my F2 and moving up to the AT Pro as my main dirt machine. For the budget the Sand Shark makes total sense. I know that you will dig a lot and the popular opinion is to get a excalibur or Sov GT. However I cant afford either one at this time. So I am willing to dig a bit more instead of standing on the side lines wishing I was in the game. Best of luck I notice some guys on here in the Florida Panhandle that use the sand shark so that may be a place to look for local advice.

Thank you for the input. Yes, this will be for Florida panhandle area salt water.

You are going to upset a lot of Excal users, so don't walk too- close behind them

You can walk behind with your SS Terry... I'll be leading the way with my GT and I'll make sure to leave you all the bobbiepins you so crave

That is up to you as they are two different animals... the SS will give you depth over the AT but zero discrimination and if your beaches are iron infested that will be a nightmare digging all that trash on the other hand in the water the SS will be king over the AT because of lack of trash... you don't want to use a PI in the dry sand I would keep the AT for there.
