Default leaded gas in the batmobile?

Found a couple interesting items in the last couple days.

One was an old Batmobile from the company Playart. I believe this was made in 1966, but would love anyone who can give me more info.

Second item was this old leaded gas pump sign. I found this under a porch at a very old house. Probably why it stayed in pretty nice shape. I have seen these in magazines from the 40's, but would also love to get a date on when these signs stopped being used on gas pumps. I remember leaded gas at the gas stations as a kid in the early 80's but this sign is certainly older. Any help would be appreciated. The sign measures 6"x7"

Thanks for looking.

Reminds me that on the news someone got stopped again driving the car and he was dressed in the batman garb.
The car wasn't quite like the bat car we see.
But cool anyhow

Lead is not something that comes with gasoline that has to be taken out -- it was deliberately added by the oil industry to boost "octane" or anti-knock ratings for fuel. It had to be phased out by government order, for public health reasons, starting in 1975, and concluding in 1986

Back in the day all a station owner had to do to convert to unleaded gas was
fill the underground tanks with unleaded gas change the nozzle on the handle and remove that sign from the pump

fwiw I remember them signs still on some older pumps in the 1970's when I was a teenage pump jockey

This article gives some more info on leaded fuel history

Very interesting finds and also seeing the clad finds are rising. Think about this at the times of those items I was living just a little over 2 blocks from your present location. Really making me feel old.

I owe you for your great understanding this weekend and hope our next hunt together will be a winner. Jack
