Default Remote starters

Hi all, traded my old truck off yesterday and with it went my remote start
It has been years since I installed one and now it seems there are hundreds of different brands out there.
Can anyone reccomend a good brand that is reliable and is not a total pain in the a$$ to install?
Thanks

Is this going on a new vehicle? The reason I ask is, my wife was told any aftermarket remote starter installed on her Hyundai Santa Fe would void her warranty for any electronics? Be careful and good luck....Curt

It`s a 2011 Ford Ranger Sport 4x4 still under warranty, I have to stop back at the dealers tomorrow for oil change and emissions sticker. I will ask them about it.
Thanks for bring that up.

I have an Avital from Long Radio that has been in my truck for about 5 years and have never had an issue with it. It has the remote (I believe it's called the two way paging system), which will sound off if the alarm is triggered as most times you won't know the alarm has been activated like if your in a store or something. I'm cosidering getting one for my motorcycle.

Ford make them for about the same price that you'd pay for quality aftermarket starters elsewhere. I shopped around a few years ago for my Ranger, and was going to go with the Ford dealer so I wouldn't have any issues with the warranty. Ford's price was close to all the others' as long as I was comparing the same quality. As it turned out, I bought a Jeep Liberty that already had one on so it was a moot point. Figure out how long a "shot" you have (worse case scenario) as the better ones can start from quite the distance. I love mine. When I'm on night shift, I can start my Jeep from our office (over 100 yards away) and the defroster will take care of most the ice/frost. Mine has a ten minute run time before it turns itself off. Good Luck!! Curt
