Default 2x detectors req'd for gold coin caches

I've never used a metal detector before.

I'll be hunting for gold coin caches (land) overseas with a friend, so will need 2 detectors (I think???)

Is there a specific strategy when hunting in pairs?

Do I buy the same detectors or 2 different ones that will likely compliment one another?

Some of the recommended detectors on this forum include:

Garrett GTI 2500
Garrett Master Hunter CX Plus
Tesoro Cibola
White's Spectra V3
Minelab's E-TRAC

adding an Eagle Eye Treasure Hound Depth Multiplier to a Garret machine

I'm thinking Garret GTI 2500 + Eagle Eye thingy.

I don't want to spend too much money, say up to $1250 or so. Preferably less. Since I'm a beginner, don't want something that is too complicated to figure out.

A particular site is offering buy one get one (either free or discounted). Are any of the following worthwhile additions to my main purchase? (listed in order of least to most expensive):

Bounty Hunter VLF!
Automax V4 Pinpointer Detector!
Bounty Hunter Pin Pointer Detector!!
Bounty Hunter Gold Digger!
1st Texas Pilot!!
MP3 Pro Multi Power!
MP5 Pro Multi Power!!
MPX Multi Power!!
Pioneer 505 with 8" Coil!
Pioneer 505 Pro - 8" and 4" coils!! (2 coils)
Viper Trident!
Cobra Land Beach & Water

Question

I've narrowed it down to the following:

Whites TM-800
Whites TM-808
Discovery TF900
Fisher Gemini III

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Mostly looking at ease of use for beginners.

Is it wise to buy one detector and get something like a thermal scanner instead of having two detectors?

Also, I'm not sure if I should buy them from here (the US) and ship or wait till I get to Europe and buy from there?
