Default My Kellyco nightmare turned into a dream.

Well, I wanted everybody to know about a problem I had purchasing a new MD. After a lot of researching and reading posts here, I decided on a Garrett Ace 350. The best deal I could find was from Kellyco. That's where the problem started. After I purchased it online, I get a email from kellyco telling me it's back ordered. I call them and get a excuse about Garrett not having enough parts to build the machines and it would be at "least a couple of weaks" before I would have my MD!

I decided to call Kellyco's bluff and called Garrett. To my surprise the phone was answered after one ring by a real person! Brad from Garrett was a big help I told him what Kellyco told me and he said that was not the case. He asked me where I lived and found me a dealer really close (I searched for a dealer before I bought, never found him). Brad told me if the dealer near me didn't have one, to call him back and he will help me find one.

I ended up at Alexander Enerprises in South Houston. Bill is a outstanding person to deal with. Had everything I wanted, he even talked me out of buying something I didn't need. Just a great business owner, he showed my everything about my MD and PP. Gave me some tips and tricks too.

Now the fight continues with Kellyco to release the hold on my credit card.....

That's why KC depends on new customers, they treat them like !!!! so thier return business stinks.

Every time a KC rep comes on here it's ALWAYS the same story.... "call me directly and I will help you, we are always trying to improve our customers service, blah blah blah" But it's almost always the same problem every time someone comes here complaining.

I only give somebody one chance to get my business. They don't get a second chance.

Default Watch out for minelab...7 day return policy!

Glad to hear it worked out. I just bought an Etrac from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies a few weeks ago. I was out of town the first 4 days before I could open the box, put batteries in it and find out it wouldn't turn on. Tried the rechargeable battery (after charging) and it also wouldn't work. The Minelab customer service was not so great and the rep reminded me of the 7 day return policy which I had not known about when I bought it. Bart was concerned and followed up but I had to deal with Minelab directly. I couldn't return it til the following Tuesday (8 Days After Delivery) because of the weekend and Monday was Presidents Day. I lost some time and missed a group hunt that we were planning while waiting for a replacement. The new machine works but BEWARE...MINELAB HAS A 7 DAY RETURN POLICY that I must say made me very nervous. $1549.00 for a machine that wouldn't even turn on and a 7 day return policy was very disappointing. I hear that Tesorro has a lifetime warranty and my previous experience with Garrett has been fantastic. I read on this forum that Minelab is farming out some of its parts and/or assembly to third world countries. I studied the battery terminal connections on teh battery pack and it looked like it was soldered by a 2 year old. It may be a great machine (verdict is still out with me since its been snowing or frozen for every weekend since I got a working machine), but the return policy sucks in light of the cost of the product. I hope Minelab is not following in the footsteps of KCo. Barts prices were good, his service was good and he did try to help with my problem but he is only the middleman, if you have a problem, you have to deal Minelab directly and my experience was not very good. I really believe I had a bad service representative at Mine Lab but this might be a sign of a good company on the decline.

I know, it kept saying "Flat Battery". I tried different batteries, made sure I had them in right, etc. Couldn't believe it myself. I knew I was getting ripped off when I bought it but I'd heard so much good about it. If this snow stops anytime soon, I may find out. The new one they sent me turns on and works in my house but I hope it works when I'm in the field. 7 days has long gone by. I should've just stayed with Garrett or bought a Tesoro. Met another forum member from Upstate NY today for lunch and he uses Tesoro. I felt like a fool when I heard about the Tesoro warranty vs. Minelab. It was like buying a name brand (that used to be top of the line) at Home Depot and finding out it is a piece of junk.

Welcome, I had an issue getting a Propointer a while back from some shady company, It took three weeks and still didn't see it. so I canceled. Then I found out about New England detectors N.E.D. and talked with Andrew. This company is excellent and Andrew is a delight to do business with and a man of his word.

It's amazing, but true. Tesoro sells high quality detectors at reasonably low prices, provides a lifetime warranty and backs it all up with the best customer service in the business. The Tesoro Vaquero gets great depth. The Tesoro Tejon gets even more depth than the Vaquero.

I smile every time I watch this video.

This is a true story. When I was unemployed I saved for months to buy a detector and was new to the hobby and knew very little if anything about brands or models. I was interested in the ace 250 and was told I could get a very nice deal on a floor model mp3 series that would best suit my needs.I received a machine that was utterly useless. The face was scratched and the performance was awful.I wrote an honest review without trying to bash the detector or the company. It was never published. I wrote another. It was never published.I pleaded for a return or at least a trade in fairly close to what I paid.Nope.Unless I took a substantial loss and bought an expensive detector.I understand a business has to make a profit to stay on top and have had a few decent purchases and transactions, so yes I did return .I just wish they would have been a little more sensitive to a new hobbyist with very little knowledge or money.
