Default I'm surprised that there aren't more detectors that

I'm surprised that there aren't more detectors with the dual discriminate setup like on the Tesoro Tejon and the older Fisher 1265 and 1266. Its a very useful feature and alot of fun playing around with different disc. settings. Really like the under the control box toggle switch setup, simple but works.

Or the Ace Freedom II?
Seriously, I wonder if you can turn the toggle upside down as I find on the one I put on my Silver umax I like to pull instead of push to the second disc. level. Easier for me to do.

Believe it or not sllingshot there was a fella on another forum that had one of the Garrett Freedom's that had the dual disc. (you controlled it by squeezing the switch on the hand grip) that I wanted to buy but it got sold before I got to it. Nothing wrong with the old Freedom series. I don't see no reason why you couldn't turn the switch on your Silver µMax. Anyone that uses a yellow detector is backwards anyways .

Default Tejon

What I don't understand is why more people don't buy the Tejon??? When I was doing research for my first MD and knowing nothing about them at all, I had to do my best to understand everything about how MDs work, What the different functions did, what the difference between the different type coils is, how the KHz of the detector and type and size of search coil influenced depth and accuracy... After learning as much as I could and without being a member here yet or knowing anyone that ever really used a MD (except for an old mentally declining Uncle) I was forced to start researching Brands and Models that I thought were the most bang for my Buck! I had a $600 budget and everything I had learned told me to buy a Tesoro! after six or seven weeks of research I had it narrowed down to my top Five MDs, I only had the AT Pro on my list that was recommended to me, the other four were my own choices from research! Tied for top was the Minelab Xterra 705 GP and the Tesoro Tejon! the last 2 were the Lobo Super Traq, and the Vaquero...I scratched the AT Pro first as it had crappy reviews and I wasn't sure the bugs were worked out of it yet. The Lobo got pitched next (it was over my budget amount) and the Tejon took its place. Choosing was making me crazy, I spent 12 hrs a day researching and moving around the order of my final three!!! I joined the forum in the last couple weeks and Didn't ask opinions or recommendations but read posts and noticed the MDs people were using, Thats when I noticed the Tejon was like the red headed stepchild of the Tesoro line! I couldn't understand why then and I still can't now??? I finally decided that I had had enough and forced myself to make a decision and buy a MD the Next morning. I filled out my purchase information leaving the MD blank and the 705,Tejon,and Vaquero were in my mind and the darn AT pro was buzzing around outside my head like an annoying mosquito. Having never owned or used a MD my main worry was If I could learn and work a MD with just tone/sound? Since I wasn't sure I dropped the Tesoro's!!! Since I wasn't sure the AT Pro was debugged I Killed the mosquito! I logically saw the Xterra as the safest choice because of the ability of the three frequencies determined by the Coil to make it into whatever MD I needed!!! Now I am looking to buy a Tesoro as my second MD so I need to know why so few people that own Tesoro's buy Tejons? Is it the High frequency kills it depth? And why do so many buy the Vaquero? I'm starting to like it more and more myself..... Oh Hell I wrote a book here......Good Luck and Happy Hunting.....

I was thinking yesterday while using my GB'd Cibola how nice it was to have the switch on the handle. I think Tesoro should replace the PP button with the switch when they build them. There's so much trash in many of the fields I hunt, that AM is out of the question, however I'll flip it on now and then just to see where I am regarding the majority of the trash/iron.

If I bought a used Tesoro (where Warranty wasn't a concern), I think I'd add the switch just for the convenience of having it. It's SO much nicer/quicker than either flipping the switch on the control panel, or turning the knob (depending on model), especially when wearing bulky/muddy gloves.

Don't forget to keep us posted on that mod'ed Cibola & the Compadre you mod'ed. Especially curious how the Compadre does for you. Nice job on both of them by the way.
