Default Price and age of the M6 I just bought?

I just came across an M6 and was able to get it for $250. It was owned by an elderly woman who passed away so her grandson listed it on CL. Is this a good deal for the M6? The serial number is 9063-xxxx-xxx. Also on the sticker is a picture of a barrel with an X through it and the date 2009. Is it true the first four numbers of the serial number are the date code? Did I just score a pretty good deal on a fairly new detector? (new to me cause I'm switching from an older Surfmaster II Plus) I can only assume I'll see a big difference in these two machines.

That's a good price for an M6, I think they usually sell on Ebay for around 400. You can find out the date it was manufactured just by calling White's and giving them that serial number.

You received a great deal most used M6's sale for 400 to 425 . If you call Whites on the 800 number and give the lady your serial number she can look that detector up in there computer and tell you exactly how old it is . I called them on mine when I bought it and mine was 3 years old when I got it . I also called them when I sold a MXT I Had for sale and it was like 8 years old when I sold it . That's a great detector for a great price , you did good on the price . If it happens to be under 2 years old the warranty would still be transferable on it also . Good Hunting

That's a steal of a deal my friend considering its MSRP is $700!!! You would have no trouble reselling that for profit or trading it for another detector like an AT Pro or Teknetics Omega. Hope you like it!

I was actually saving for an AT Pro when this showed up on CL. After reading reviews, I think maybe I should keep it to try out for a while.

I have one and really like it. Use it in tone mode with 0 disc and as high sens as you can go before it starts crackling. You can pick targets like this all day!

M6 is an awesome machine. You can use the presets 1 and 2 at the white triangles, but also another thing I've found through using it is you pick up smaller gold items with the discrimination at about 9 o'clock and if you go to 12 o'clock it takes out pull tabs and you're going to pick up coins only, perhaps some chunkier rings. Preset 1 is a good compromise because it splits the two.
