Hey folks, found a G.M.I. (Georgia Military Institute) button a while back close to where I live in Putnam county Ga. It has a Scovill backmark and still has the shank on the back. I plan on keeping it but would like to know if it has any value. Sorry the pictures are bad, it says Cadet & 1851 on the front.
Does anyone have any idea if it's worth anything?

The last North South Trader Price Guide, 12th edition, says your button ranges from $450 to $650 for excavated ones. Also prices have been going down some overall for civil war artifacts. You button is not in that great of a condition so I would guess your button would be around $300.

Appreciate the info DUG.GAP
I had no clue it would be worth anything even close to that.
I think I’ll put it in the gun safe.
Thanks for the replies everybody!
