I dug this out of my suspected junk rings, it seems cheesy to me. I acid tested it, and it did seem to pass 10K, 14K, 18K but 22K dissolved it. It was a little harder to scratch the stone though so I am not counting on gold.

Might it be a gold ring from India? That's the only label on it. Thanks. Martin

Hardly cleaned. I am pretty sure that I am too new at acid tests and getting erroneous results. It just seems too hard for 18K gold to me. It was still a question I had to ask since the India label was inside. It is likely a carnival ring and that's all. Thanks. martin

I dug out a ring that looked cheap. I wanted to dump it right away, but then I noticed a stamp inside so I had to take it back home to look at it more carefully. The stamp says "India". No other stamps or letters. I google "ring stamped India". And guess what? Google says go to Friendly Metal Detecting Forum. They know about it. Here I am reading seven year old thread. Do we have any new info on the topic? What's the deal with this "India" stamp on the cheap rings made of weird metals?
