I dug this at the base of a huge tree about 4-5 inches down. It is very heavy and was giving me a strong iron on the display. It is about 4.5 inches round, and the inside is square... Anyone got a sugestion as to what this could be? I am calling it a iron donut for now...

I don't know

I think I found one of these when I was metal detecting in a playground, It was about a foot under a slide attached one of those jungle gym thingies. My dad made me throw it out though, lol.

I believe that's part of and old disk harrow for farming. It's not one of the actual disks which are much larger in diameter and very thin, but rather the cap at the end of the disk gangs that held the disks and spacers in place.

Thank you for the lead...Now I looked for this via google and found "spacer spool for harrow" and found alot on google pictures. Strange find, but kinda of cool. I should change my name to "IronMan" since I find more of it than anything else...

Thanks guys for the help.
Steven
