Found this bullet today where a Civil War skirmish took place in 1863. I have dug several fired and dropped 3 ringers in this area but never a bullet like this. It has rifling marks showing it was fired. The bullet seems to have been stretched or squeezed and the area where the hollow base would be is folded inward. Could this bullet have been loaded backwards and fired? The bullet weighs 517 grains with a approx. diameter of .574 and a approx. length of 1.33 inches.
